April 24, 1930 CAPLE-ROBINSON Miss Eva Caple of this city and Mr. F. L. Robinson of Chicago were united in marriage at Winfield, Kansas Tuesday evening. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. and Mrs. C. W. Caple of this city. She is a graduate of the Pond Creek high school and was a popular with of the younger set here. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.L. Robinson of New Kirk. He is a graduate of the Newkirk high school and spent four years in the U. S. Navy. He is employed by the Chicago-Northwestern Railroad at Chicago. The groom left Wednesday for Chicago, and the bride will leave in a few days for that place where they will make their home. Much joy and happiness are the wishes of the young couple's many friends here. May 15, 1930 BOTTRELL-CLASSEN Clyde Bottrell, son of Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Bottrell of this city and Miss Rachel Classen of Fairview, Oklahoma were united in marriage at Medford Sunday morning. The young couple spent Sunday with the formers parents here and left Monday morning for Oklahoma City where they will make their home. May 29, 1930 VIERK-HICKOK Relatives here received word last week of the marriage at Webber, Kansas on Sunday May 18th of Mr. Orlo Hickok and Miss Eva Vierick. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Hickok of this city and is well known here. He is a barber at Cairo, Nebraska, where the young couple will make their home. June 5, 1930 THOMAS-MACK Miss Etta Thomas, 18, and Mr. Levi Webster Mack, 23, both of Pond Creek were united in marriage at Medford Monday afternoon, Mearle Proute, justice of peace, performing the cerement. Both are well know young people of southeast of this city, the groom being the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Mack. Their friends wish them a long and happy wedded life. ANNOUNCES MARRIAGE Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Cunningham of this city announce the marriage of their daughter Helen to Mr. Joe Raaf of Enid, the marriage taking place on May 29th. They will make their home at 1006 West Broadway, Enid. June 12, 1930 METCALF-UMPHREY Announcement was made recently of the wedding of Mr. Shelby Metcalf of east of town and Miss Grace Umphrey of Tulsa, Oklahoma on April 8, 1930. Mr. Metcalf is a graduate of Pond Creek high school and attended Oklahoma A & M College for two years. Mrs. Metcalf was a student at Tulsa University at the time of the wedding. The young couple will make their home in Tulsa where Mr. Metcalf is employed. June 19, 1930 FREDERIKISON-FEST Announcement was made recently of the wedding of Miss Vera Frederickson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Frederickson of Lindsborg, Kansas and Mr. Ercle Fest, son of Mr. and Mr. G. A. Fest of this city on May 31, 1930 at Lindsborg, Kansas. Mrs. Fest is a graduate of Lindsborg high school and at the time of her marriage was a student at Bethany College at Lindsborg. Mr. Fest is the son of Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Fest of this city. He graduated from the Pond Creek high school with the class of 1927, when he was a prominent in school activities and on the school's athletic teams. For the last two years he has attended Bethany College at Lindborg, where he specialized in music. They will make their home at Sun City, Kansas where Mr. Fest will teach in the High School there. July 31, 1930 BERGMAN-BOREN A wedding of much interest to local young people occurred at Liberal, Kansas July 19th, when Ben Bergman of Beaver, were united in marriage. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Bergman of southeast of this city and for the past two years has been employed by the Beaver Herald-Democrat at that place. The bride is one of Beaver's popular ladies. Mr. Bergman formerly was a linotype operator for the Herald in this city. The best of wishes are extended to the young couple for a long and happy wedded life. BUFFALOW-WOODROW Miss Pauline Buffalow of Pond Creek and Mr. Earl Woodrow of Medford surprised their many friends by being married on July 29th at Kremlin, Oklahoma, with Mrs. J. V. Crawford of Pond Creek officiating. The parents of Mr.. Woodrow were present at the wedding. Their many friends wish them much happiness. The couple will make their home at Medford BOWLES-FIELDS Announcement has been made this week of the marriage of Mr. Earl Fields and Sylvia Bowles both of this city. They will make their home at Gate, Oklahoma where Earl is employed. Their friends here wish them much happiness. August 14, 1930 FEST-WILLIAMSON Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Fest have announced the marriage of their daughter Vada Marie on Tuesday August 12 to Mr. Charles Williamson of Pittsburg, California, a nephew of Mrs. B. M. Hironymus of east of this city. Mrs. Williamson is one of Pond Creek's most prominent young ladies, having lived here all of her life. She graduated from the local high school with the class of 1929, and last year was a student at the Oklahoma College for Women at Chickasha. Mr. Williamson is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Williamson of Pittsburg California. The couple left this morning for a wedding trip to Colorado, Yellowstone Park, Oregon and Washington, after which they will go to Pittsburg, California where Mr. Williamson is employed by the Santa Fe railway company and where they will make their home. August 21, 1930 RONALD MARQUIS IS MARRIED AT LONDON SATURDAY Mr. and Mrs. George L. Marquis of this city received a cablegram Saturday morning from London, England announcing the marriage of their son Ronald to Miss Mary Kier, of London, the wedding taking place on Saturday morning. Ronald and his bride left immediately after the ceremony for Ostend and Brussels, Belgium where they will spend their honeymoon. Ronald is the only son of Mr. and Mrs. Marquis and was one of the city's most prominent young men. He graduated from the Pond Creek High School with the class of 1920 and entered George Washington University at Washington D. D., receiving his degree from the Law department. He accepted a position with the United States government and three years ago was transferred to the U. S. Treasury department at London, England, where he has been in government employ. Thursday, August 21, 1930 SCHMIZ-UMBEHAUEN Miss Luella A. Schmitz, 26, of Jefferson and Mr. Fred Umbehauen, 32, of Renfrow, were united in marriage at the home of the bride's parents east of Jefferson last Thursday evening at 7:30 o'clock with the Rev. N. F. Profitt, pastor of the Jefferson Methodist Church, reading the marriage vows. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Schmitz of east Jefferson and is one of Grant county's prominent young ladies. The Groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gus Umbehaun near Renfrow. After the wedding ceremony a reception was held at the Schmitz home where about sixty relatives and friends were present. They will make their home on a farm five miles north of Medford, after a short honeymoon in the eastern part of the state and in the Ozark mountains. August 28, 1930 WALKER-TILLINGHAST A pretty wedding was solemnized Wednesday at 1 o'clock in the home of Dr. and Mrs. I. D. Walker, Tonkawa, when their daughter, Elizabeth, became the bride of H. Virgil Tillinghast of El Reno. Rev. J. F. Phillips pastor of the First Baptist Church of Tonkawa, officiated. Vows were exchanged before and improvised alter of ferns and asters. Preceding the ceremony Miss Lucille Paynter sang "O Promise Me," and continuing after the ceremony with "Because." Mrs. Earl Bronson accompanied Miss Paynter, and played "Wedding March" from Lohengrin for the processional. The bride wore an afternoon dress of white crepe with a large corsage of pink roses and orchid asters. The bride is a graduate of the Blackwell High Sh\school with the class of 1926 and later attended Oklahoma Baptist University at Shawnee where she received her Batchelor of Fine Art degree this summer. The groom graduated from El Reno High School with the class of 1925 and graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University with the class of 1929. Mr. and Mrs. Tillinhast left immediately aver the wedding for a short wedding trip. They will arrive the last of the week at Pond Creek where they will make their home. Those in attendance at the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. Johnson and children of Shawnee, Mrs. Harris of Oklahoma City, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hutchins, Mrs. Earl Bronson, Miss Lucille Paynter and Miss Ada Gulley, all of Blackwell, Mr. Tillinhast and daughter of El Reno, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Davis of Pond Creek and Dr. and Mrs. I. D. Walker and sons Albert and Richard. October 9, 1930 A DOUBLE WEDDING A double wedding of much interest here occurred at Watonga on Sunday, September 28th, when Miss Donna lea Perren of Normand and Mrs. Hugh "Pete"Miller, and Miss Helen Hildinger and Vernon Miller were united in marriage. The young people had kept the event a secret but word of it got out as all secrets do. Donna Lea is a Pond Creek girl, being the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Perren of this city. She is a sophomore at Oklahoma University where the family now resides. Pete is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Miller of southwest of this city. He graduated from Enid High School with the class of 1928 and last year attended Phillips University. Helen is the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Hildinger of southwest of this city. Vernon is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Oscam Miller of southwest of this city. He graduated from Enid High School with the class of 1928. KEMPH-REES Miss Hazel Kemph, of Pond Creek and Mr. Morgan Rees of Frisco, W. Virginia, were united in marriage at the Kemph home in this city last Friday afternoon at 3:00 p. m. with the Rev. V. A. Majors performing the ceremony. Attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Norman Kemph and Mrs. V. A. Majors. The bride is well and favorably known in Pond Creek. She is a graduate of Pond Creek High School and taught in the local schools for several years. Their many friends wish them a long and happy wedded life. WHARRY-SHELTON Miss Alberta Shelton of Alva and Mr. Clifford Wharry of Pond Creek were united in marriage at Cherokee Wednesday, October 9th with the Rev. Shelby, pastor of the First Baptist Church officiating the ring ceremony. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Wharry of this city. He is a graduate of Pond Creek High School and last year attended Alva Normal. They will make their home at Pond Creek. October 16, 1930 HAMMONS-KENDALL Miss Wilma Hammon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P. B. Hammon of this city and Mr. Robert Lewis Kendall of Kingfisher were united in marriage at Enid last Friday afternoon, October 10th. Mrs. Kendall is well know in Pond Creek and their many friends here wish them a long and happy wedded life. They will make their home and Marietta, Oklahoma where Mr. Kendall is employed. MALLORY-KIRBY Announcement has been made of the marriage of Miss Viola Mallory of east of town to Mr. Allen Kirby of Pond Creek which occurred several weeks ago at Topeka, Kansas. Mrs. Kirby is the granddaughter of Mrs. Jewel Mallory of near Lamont, and is a popular student at Pond Creek high School. Allen is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Kirby of this city. He graduated from a local high school with the class of 1929 where he was popular in athletics. They are making their home now at Grandma Kirby's farm east of this city. HUBBART-HOFFMAN Announcement as been made this week of the marriage of Miss Mabel Hubbart, of Beaver, and Mr. Gilbert Hoffman of Lamont on May 31st at Newkirk, with the Rev. V. A. Johnson former Pond Creek pastor, performing the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Hubbart of Beaver, the former Pond Creek residents. She is a graduate of Pond Creek High School and was one of the city's most popular young ladies. The groom is a prominent young farmer of the Lamont vicinity where they will make their home. November 13, 1930 GALLUP-MCKEE Miss Alice Marie Gallup and Mr. Howard McKee, both of Pond Creek, stole a march on their friends here last Saturday when they were united in marriage at Alva at 2:00 p. m. The bride is the oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James W. Gallup of southeast of town and a popular student in the local high school. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Mckee of Tonkawa, and has been a prominent young farmer southeast of this city for the past few years. They will make their home on the farm southeast of town where the groom has just completed a fine new home for his bride. Their many friends wish them much happiness along life's pathway. HALCOMB-FRANKLIN Announcement has been made of the marriage on Saturday November 1st. of Miss Franklin of Hillsdale and Mr. Sam Halcomb of southwest of this city. The bride is a prominent school teacher at Hillsdale, while the groom is one of southern Grant County's most prominent farmers. They will make their home on the farm southwest of Pond Creek, their friends wishing them a long and happy wedded life. The happy young couple will made their home in London. The groom's many friends in this city wish them a long and happy wedded life.
